Key features for an online grocery ecommerce platform

Progressive web application

Over recent years, mobile devices' role in online shopping has increased significantly. Progressive web apps are the best approach to reaching mobile customers cost-effectively.

Advanced search system

The search system must be advanced to help customers efficiently find products that meet their dietary and nutritional needs or find current promotions.

Advanced filtering and sorting options

Allowing customers to easily find products through advanced filtering options (e.g. price, brand, nutritional values, categories) and sorting.

Voice search function

Users can use voice search to quickly find products they are interested in by saying phrases like "show me all products from brand X" or "I'm looking for organic apples." This makes shopping faster and more convenient.

Buy with one click

Customers usually order their favorite products regularly. Therefore, it is worth making sure that you allow them to re-order the entire basket or add their most frequently ordered items to it quickly.

Click and Collect

This is one of the popular order fulfillment methods. The grocery eCommerce solution allows customers to order online and pick it up in physical stores without standing in line.

Personalized offers

Thanks to artificial intelligence tools, grocery stores can collect and then use (in accordance with the law) customer data purchasing behavior to create personalized products and offer recommendations. This may also include personalized promotions and notifications.

Loyalty program

In the food industry today, customer loyalty is more crucial than ever. Retain your customers with various promotions and loyalty programs, increasing CLV (Customer Lifetime Value).

Subscription model

Selling products in a subscription model through grocery delivery platforms is a great convenience for customers. Thanks to this, they are guaranteed regular deliveries of their favorite products right to their doorstep, and you have a steady income.

Inventory management

Integration of the platform with the inventory management system will allow for more effective management of product deliveries and reduce possible surpluses or shortages in the warehouse.

Fast and flexible delivery services

Offering a variety of delivery options, including same-day delivery or selecting a specific delivery window, can significantly improve customer satisfaction.

Simple and secure payment gateways

Integration of various payment methods, including mobile payments and electronic wallets, and ensuring a high level of transaction security inspire consumer confidence.

#1 Advanced eCommerce platform for the leader of the organic food industry

Planeta Huerto is the largest Spanish online store. For ten years, it has been the undisputed leader in Spain and Portugal in the online sale of ecological, organic, healthy, and sustainable products.
One of the company's main problems was the lack of marketing support, which made daily work difficult. Our main goal included the migration of products and customers from the proprietary solution to Sylius and the connection of the blog platform with the store. This was important because the blog is a large part of Planeta Huerto's marketing. The client also wanted to expand shipping methods, add new payment methods, and easily manage product information.

The solutions and improvements we have introduced are:

Open-source CMS plugin
Content management that fulfilled the need to integrate a blog with a store.
Elasticsearch
An advanced search engine.
Pimcore
Product information management (images, descriptions, translations in two languages)
Adyen and Aplazame
Introduction of new payment systems
The technologies used allow for easy service of many clients and flexible expansion by adding or modifying new functionalities in the future. It is worth adding that the store works perfectly on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and phones.
